Dr. Paula Murphy of the discipline of Zoology was one of only 4 recipients of a Provost's Teaching Award 2011
June 2011
At a ceremony last night in the Provost's House the outstanding excellence of the teaching of four members of the College's Academic Staff was recognised through the Provost's Teaching Awards: Dr. Paula Murphy of the discipline of Zoology was one of those staff. The broad purpose of the Provost's Teaching Award Scheme is to promote teaching as a scholarly activity and to reward those who have made an outstanding contribution in the pursuit of teaching excellence. The process of assessment of the quality of teaching of these staff was rigorous. Fifty-one staff were nominated for consideration for an award. From the 51 a shortlist was formed and selected candidates were videoed to allow assessment by the awarding panel of their teaching style.
In the citation for her award the Provost quoted a student nominator who said of Paula
'My reasons for nominating Dr. Murphy are simple. She is a fantastic lecturer whose enthusiasm and excellence for developmental biology has been a real inspiration.'
