Khaosokia caricoides is an endangered, rare and novel genus and species of sedge. It was effectively discovered in 2002 on an expedition by staff of the School, the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and the Royal Forest Department, Bangkok and subsequently described in 2005. It is currently highlighted on the UK Natural History Museum’s website at http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/species-of-the-day/index.html
