Museums and Gardens
The School of Natural Sciences contains a number of long-established Museums and Gardens. Elements of some of the collections date back to the 18th C and some of them form part of the original Dublin University Museum founded that century. The current Museums are the Herbarium in Botany, Geology and Zoology. The Botanic gardens is off-campus at Dartry.
All these collections are extensively used in teaching and research; indeed the Herbarium and Botanic Gardens are core facilities for the much of the current research of the School. Equally, all these collections form important elements of the School’s outreach programme and so can be viewed by the public following approach to the appropriate Curator.
